Many of our community members are depriving themselves of sleep this weekend taking part in 24 hour sim races.
The first round is already complete and saw Matt Lewis, Matt Richards and Ben Lewis competing for our friends at Grand Prix Race Centre/Max Velocity as support for McLaren’s World Fastest Gamer competition at McLaren Technology centre in Woking. Despite little pre event information, little practice time and an unfamiliar sim platform, both teams did a great job to come 10th and 12th against World class competition from WFG contestants, pro sim teams, real world Le Mans drivers and McLaren staff. Most of the damage was done early on loosing laps whilst we learnt the sim platform and car however once we were up to speed the pace was there to have troubled 6th place had we not lost so much time at the start.
In our second group and currently underway, our members affiliated with the TSA racing team are taking place in a Children in Need charity sim race in Southampton. Philip Morby, Thomas Jacobs, Matthew Chirgwin, Ben Willis and Cameron Brewster are taking part in the race running a Ferrari GT at Imola. The team have already reached their target of £1000 for the charity but there’s is still time for more. If you would like to support, visit their just giving page here
Lastly Dan Kell will compete with our German partner league P1 Gaming in more familiar NGTC machinery in their annual 24 hour Nordschleife race. Somehow we think Dan drew the short straw with that as it was a very unforgiving unforgiving event when WSR looked to enter a team a few years back. So here’s hoping you get more time on track and not spend it all in the garage repairing things.
So well done to all WSR members who have already completed their stint and good luck to all those still to compete.
